Reasons Why Your Tire Pressure Light is On

tire pressure

Seeing your tire pressure light come on may send you into a panic. Your immediate thought may be that you have a flat tire. While this is a possibility, it might not be the cause. There are a few reasons why your light may be illuminated. At Eastside Kia in Calgary, AB, we’re here to tell you more about your tire pressure monitoring system.

Sometimes, the light comes on because there’s a puncture. As more air leaves the tire, the sensor catches it. Other times, it’s because the sensor is damaged.

Temperatures can affect pressure, too. You may have to make adjustments to the air in your tires based on the temperature outside. Colder temperatures may require you to add air while hotter temperatures may require you to remove air. Either way, the light coming on is your way of knowing there’s an issue.
