Here at Eastside Kia in Calgary, we're thrilled to introduce the newest performance model in the Kia family. Kia is releasing the 2020 Kia Forte5 GT in Canada only, and we are in for a treat. Building on the successful introduction of the third-generation Forte sedan last year, the Forte5 GT delivers turbocharged performance in a compact 5-door hatchback form--hence the "5" in Forte5. Now Kia has an entry in the "hot hatch" segment, combining style, performance, and practicality at a starting price of only $27,395 for the GT trim level.
The 2020 Forte5 builds on the style introduced last year in the Forte sedan, including the long hood and sleek lines inspired by its upscale sibling, the Kia Stinger. In the Forte5, the hatchback extends the racy fastback profile while offering more interior space and greater cargo access. In the GT trim level, the Forte5 gets LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels with red accents, gloss black side view mirrors, and a sunroof. From Kia's signature "tiger nose" grille to the dual chrome exhaust tips, the Forte5 GT radiates the kind of upscale style that you don't expect to find in the compact hatchback market.
Step up to the GT trim level and you'll find a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder beneath the hood, good for 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. of torque. This powerplant is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for excellent responsiveness throughout its power band. Those who prefer to do their own shifting can toggle into Manual mode and take advantage of steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. A sport-tuned multi-link suspension delivers handling to match the engine's thrust. Like the Forte5's styling, its performance exceeds expectations for any car in its class.
Kia's interiors are renowned for their excellent ergonomics and driver-friendly layout. In the Forte5, stepping up to the GT trim level adds comfortable sport bucket seats with contrasting stitching and a flat-bottomed steering wheel for extra space during spirited handling. Additional GT luxury touches include ambient mood lighting and heated rear seats to go with the heated front seats and steering wheel.
The Forte5 GT surrounds you in all the technology you would expect in a contemporary Grand Touring model. A Harman Kardon premium audio system brings concert-quality sound to your commute. SiriusXM Satellite Radio keeps your favourite music at your fingertips. Satellite navigation is accessible through the 8-inch multimedia interface touch-screen. Voice commands let you control built-in Apple and Android smartphone integration. With wireless charging, your phone will always be fully juiced when you're on the road. Kia's UVO Intelligence suite offers security tools, diagnostics, remote engine start/stop, climate control, and vehicle location.

Safety features include forward collision avoidance assist, a rear view monitor with rear cross-traffic warning, blind spot warning and collision avoidance, parking distance warning, and more.
