Kia’s electric journey in Canada is far from over. After the success of models like the EV6 and EV9, the brand is now preparing to introduce a sleek, affordable, and city-smart new entry—the 2026 Kia EV4. Officially revealed at the New York International Auto Show, this upcoming all-electric sedan is expected to arrive in Canada by early 2026. With a sharp design, smart technology, and a focus on accessibility, it could be the EV that finally gets everyday drivers in Alberta thinking electric.
What sets the EV4 apart is its mission. It’s not just an EV for early adopters—it’s built for the mainstream. Kia has clearly positioned this car as a bridge between innovation and practicality. The design takes cues from the EV9 with a bold front face, a clean roofline, i-Pedal 3.0 variable regenerative braking and pixel-style lighting that adds a futuristic edge. It’s a compact sedan, but it doesn’t play it safe—especially not in a market ready for alternatives to gas sedans.
The platform underneath is the same e-GMP base that supports other Kia EVs, which means better balance, quicker charging, and roomier interiors despite its compact footprint. Whether you’re weaving through downtown traffic or heading out on a longer prairie drive, this new EV is expected to offer the kind of range and control drivers expect today.
Kia has confirmed that the EV4 will come with a refined version of the brand’s next-generation infotainment system. That includes a nearly 30-inch total combined widescreen display, seamless integration, improved voice recognition, and app-based personalization. The cabin design also mirrors Kia’s latest approach—minimalist but practical, with clean horizontal lines and sustainable materials throughout.
Expect over-the-air software updates, a digital key system, and remote access through the Kia Access app. These connected features are becoming standard for the brand, and the EV4 will be no exception. They help drivers monitor everything from battery charge to vehicle location, making day-to-day EV life a lot easier.
While full Canadian specs haven’t been released, reports suggest the it will offer a driving range suitable for most daily needs—likely over 531 km on a full charge. Two high-voltage battery options are available: 58.3 kWh (Light) and 81.4 kWh. Fast-charging capabilities are expected to carry over, letting drivers recover much of that range in under 30 minutes with 400V of charging.
The new Kia may also offer different trim levels to suit various needs—from an entry-level version with budget-friendly features to higher trims with AWD and more advanced safety tech. We’ll know more as Kia releases specific details for the Canadian market.
The 2026 Kia EV4 is expected to arrive in early 2026, but interest is already growing. Reserve yours today at Eastside Kia in Calgary and be one of the first to experience the next evolution in electric driving.
