Although most parents always keep their children in car seats when they drive, there are many who have their children in the wrong car seat that isn't suited for their age or size. Read further to learn how to choose the right car seat for your child.
It is important that you don't move your child to the next car seat too soon. You should also be sure that the car seat is properly installed to keep you child secure, and you should only move your child to the next type of car seat when they have outgrown the weight limitations of their current car seat. A rear-facing car seat should always be used for infants under the age of one. When you child outgrows his or her infant car seat, you can transition to a forward-facing car seat. This type of car seat provides protection to the head and neck. Once your child is old enough for a booster seat, be sure that the safety belt doesn't rest across the stomach or neck.
We welcome you to stop by our showroom at Eastside Kia in Calgary to take one of our family-friendly vehicles for a test drive.
