Eventually, matter how good of a driver you are, you’re going to find yourself having some sort of roadside emergency. When it happens, there are some common sense tips to bear in mind to help maintain your safety and that of others on the road:

  • We all appreciate a good Samaritan, especially in an age when they seem so rare. However, if someone pulls over and offers to assist you, lock your doors and remain in your vehicle. As for them to call for help, or do so yourself, and allow only professionals or law enforcement to assist you. Strangers can be dangerous!
  • Be sure to clueless far away from traffic as possible, and to put down signals and flares to make others on the road owner of your presence. There’s no sense in adding to the problem.
  • If you’re in an accident, don’t move your vehicle until police arrived and let you know it’s okay to do so. Even if it’s in the middle of the road, accidents are serious, and the officers need to know exactly where things were when it happened.
  • In the event that your tires blowout, don’t panic, continue driving on your rims until you can get somewhere safe. Your rims are less valuable than the rest of your car, or your safety.
