Late spring and early summer might seem early in the year, but automobile manufacturers are already teasing the release of vehicles for the next model year. Kia is no different with its 2022 lineup, including the Sportage SUV.
The 2022 Kia Sportage is a compact crossover that offers dependability, reliability, space, and sport. Introduced in the early 1990s, the Sportage still survives almost three decades later thanks to its great value and plethora of standard features.

Most models of the 2022 Kia Sportage will feature a 2.4-litre GDI four-cylinder engine paired with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or Dynamax all-wheel drive (AWD). The engine provides 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. However, there is also an upgrade available--a 237-hp 2.0-litre turbo GDI four-cylinder engine.
If Kia keeps a similar lineup of trim levels for the 2022 Sportage, drivers can expect to see six model variations of the SUV available for sale in Calgary and across Canada. Even though Kia has not announced pricing yet, the prices will range from approximately $26,000 to $40,000.
Kia is known for being an automobile manufacturer focused on both sportiness and luxury. The 2022 Kia Sportage is no different for drivers in Calgary. Standard features on all models include 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, privacy tint glass, heated front seats, and dual-level cargo floor.
Going through the model levels, drivers can also add in additional features such as a smart key with push button start, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, and many more driver-assist features, such as parking sensors, blind spot detection system, and more.
While the 2022 Kia Sportage has a small exterior footprint on the streets of Calgary, it offers a large interior for both passengers and cargo. 3,660 litres of total interior volume await drivers and passengers in the Sportage, which can carry adults in both the front and rear seats of the SUV.
The Sportage also offers 868 litres of cargo capacity behind the second row.
When analyzing the data, it is easy to see that the 2022 Kia Sportage offers a ton of standard features and a well-appointed interior at a price that can fit in most budgets. It is a great choice for drivers in Calgary that want a comfortable and capable SUV that focuses on the safety and comfort of the occupants inside.
