2021 Kia Seltos | Price, Performance and Features

Coming in the spring of 2020, Kia's new crossover SUV, the Seltos, rounds out the manufacturer's compact SUV line-up. Sandwiched between the smaller Kia Soul and the larger Kia Sportage, the 2021 Kia Seltos offers something that has always held the Soul back in terms of popularity and sales--an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system to help improve handling during severe wintry conditions.

Interior Features

2021 Kia Seltos interior

The Kia Seltos Is described as a subcompact SUV, but it features a good amount of interior space, both for people and cargo. Taller individuals will have plenty of legroom and headroom both in the front and rear seats of the Seltos. In addition, high-quality materials are present through the cabin and come together for a refined interior--a highlight of which is a touchscreen infotainment media centre with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. All trim levels come standard will a touchscreen display, but the optional 10.3-inch unit is worth the upgrade. Other interior features, depending on the model you choose, include three USB ports, a heads-up display, a 7.0-inch color display in the gauge cluster, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system.

Infotainment

As mentioned, the Seltos connects with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing you to safely connect your phone and perform important tasks hands-free. In addition, Kia takes connectivity one step further with its exclusive UVO Intelligence app, which connects you to support services that offer another layer of comfort, security, and confidence during every drive.

Performance and Price

The exterior of the Seltos is just as striking as the interior, featuring LED headlamps, 18" machine-finish alloy wheels, and the iconic and striking Kia front grille. Starting at $22,995, the Seltos LX model features the base engine, which is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 146 horsepower and 132 lb.-ft of torque. It works with Kia's intelligent variable transmission. It comes standard with several safety features to improve your driving experience, including the blind spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert. The other safety features are lane follow assist and forward collision assist, which are available in higher models--the LX AWD, EX, EX Premium, and SX Turbo--along with options such as a sunroof, leather seats, push button start, and more. The SX Turbo is the highest trim level, which starts at $32,595 and features a 1.6L Turbo-GDI engine. It offers a peppy 175 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft of torque and drives all four wheels paired through a seven-speed twin-clutch. Fuel economy estimates have yet to be released for the Seltos, but it is expected to be in the range of 7.1 L/100km.

Kia offers one of the best warranties among car manufacturers, providing a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty on its models. It is unmatched by other manufacturers except its sister company, Hyundai. The 2021 Kia Seltos fills in one of the missing gaps in Kia's model line-up. For too long, Kia left subcompact SUV customers in the cold in terms of winter driving with no AWD models available. The Seltos now opens Kia to a whole new market and customer base.
