2020 Kia Cadenza | Price, Features and Performance

2020 Kia Cadenza | Price, Features and Performance

In a Canadian automotive market that's increasingly dominated by crossover SUVs, the Kia Cadenza offers a refreshing change for fans of a more traditional sedan format. Offering premium comfort and top-level performance, the Cadenza has long been a popular choice for executive driving.

First released in 2009, it's now in its second generation, and the coming year will see a significant refresh. What are the standout 2020 Kia Cadenza features to look for?

Updated Styling

While the 2020 Cadenza remains very much a classic sedan, it's been given a few tweaks in styling to bring it up to date. The front end features a new, larger concave chrome grille, with the headlights shrunk a little and swept backward to make space. At the rear, the taillights span the whole width of the car to give a sleekly futuristic look.

Altogether, the new styling makes the 2020 Cadenza much more attractive, upmarket, and imposing, and is a welcome refinement of previous models.

Powertrain

As with the 2019 model, the new Cadenza sports a 3.3L V6 engine producing 290 horsepower, passed through an automatic 8-speed transmission to front wheel drive. Four driving modes are available, offering different handling and transmission responses to match changing conditions.

Despite the hefty power of the engine, fuel economy is highly respectable at 8.5L / 100km for highway driving and 11.6L / 100km in the city.

Interior Features

The interior has also been updated in the 2020 Cadenza. Dual 12.3" touchscreens replace many of the controls and dials to give a much cleaner and tidier layout.

As usual with Kia cars, there's an impressive amount of entertainment features as standard, including streaming audio, smartphone integration via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice activated operation, and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

Comfort is also a priority in this executive-class vehicle. Both front seats have heating and cooling options, along with powered adjustment and lumbar support. The adjustable, heated steering wheel has a leather trim to match the seats and door inserts, while the chrome and simulated wood accents add a smart touch of class to the console.

Safety Features

As with previous versions of the Cadenza, the 2020 release is strong on safety and security features. As standard, it includes:

  • Dual-stage driver and passenger front and side airbags.
  • First and second row curtain airbags.
  • ABS and driveline traction control.
  • Electronic stability control.
  • Blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alerts.
  • Backup camera.

Pricing and Warranty

While official 2020 pricing is yet to be confirmed, it's not expected to change too much from current 2019 prices. As of now, the Cadenza is available in two trims, with the Premium version starting at $41,545 and the Limited trim taking this up to $45,995.

Both trims feature the standard Kia warranty covering virtually the entire vehicle for five years or 100,000km.
