Every version of the 2021 Telluride has a 3.8L naturally aspirated V6 engine making 291 horsepower and 262lb-ft of torque. The power is passed through an intelligent eight-speed automatic transmission to front-wheel drive as standard, although every model can have an all-wheel drive as an option.
This configuration is a punchy performer, propelling the Telluride's hefty frame from 0-100 kmh in just 7.1 seconds.
For such a large car, the Telluride handles beautifully, thanks in part to the silky-smooth transmission which responds quickly and in all the right places. The car has power in reserve for highway passing, but is also perfectly happy under stop-start city conditions where the transmission delivers quick acceleration from standing starts. What's more, even at highway speeds the engine noise in the cabin is minimal, creating a calm driving feel that's slower to cause fatigue.
Although the Telluride is ideal for carrying larger families around the city, it also has a few features which make it a great off-road candidate too. The standard Telluride boasts an 8" infotainment touchscreen featuring the usual smartphone culprits of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with higher trims upgrading the screen size to 10.3". Multiple USB points are standard, while wireless device charging is an option in the higher trims.
