2020 Kia Sorento in Calgary | Price, Features and Performance
For many years, the Kia Sorento has been one of the biggest players in the competitive third-row crossover SUV market. Since the model was first launched in 2002, it has been steadily refined and developed, turning it into the third generation, market-leading model that's on sale today.
Kia's latest upgrade for 2020 follows on from 2019's major overhaul. Does the list of 2020 Kia Sorento features maintain the high standards previous models have set?
Powertrain and Performance
A seven-seat, third-row SUV needs a capable engine for a satisfying driving experience, and just as with previous releases, the 2020 Sorento offers two choices.
As standard, a 2.4L four cylinder engine provides 185hp, which offers a good combination of performance and economy. For those hungry for more power, the optional 3.3L V6 engine provides 290hp which should be more than enough for most real-life situations..
The standard specification features 6-speed fully automatic transmission, while the V6's increased power is driven through an 8-speed automatic version. As before, front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive an optional upgrade.
With largely the same powertrain options as previous models, fuel economy for the 2020 Sorento is identical too. With the standard engine size, expect to see an impressive 8.2L/100k, on the highway and 10.7L/100km for city driving. Higher-level specifications will feature slightly less attractive economy figures.
Kia has become known for offering a higher level of interior comfort than you'd expect from the vehicle's price range. The 2020 Sorento is no exception. It feels spacious and comfortable for a crossover SUV, seating seven adults in comfort, and offering up to 2,082 litres of cargo volume.
Standard entertainment features include:
- 7-inch console touchscreen.
- Dual first row LCDs for rear passengers.
- Smart device integration with Bluetooth, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety and Security Features
SUVs, in general, put an emphasis on safety and ruggedness. The standard Kia Sorento safety features include a full range of front, side, and overhead airbags. A smoother, safer drive is provided by the advanced braking system with brake assist, an electronic stability system, and traction control.
Security is also well provided for, with a panic alarm and ignition disable system offered as standard.
As usual with Kia models, the level of additional features increases rapidly as you rise up through the trim levels.
Price and Warranty
The current manufacturer's suggested retail price for the entry-level Sorento is $28,295, and as with all Kia cars, this includes an excellent bumper-to-bumper warranty covering 60 months or 100,000km, whichever comes sooner. The standard warranty also features five years of unlimited roadside assistance.
The next major update of the Sorento line is expected in 2021, and so the 2020 model doesn't offer any major surprises over the previous version. However, with the 2021 release expected to bring a price hike, now's a great time to book a test drive of the 2020 Kia Sorento in Calgary by contacting us online or visiting in person.
