Eastside Kia
At Eastside Kia, we're proud to sell the 2019 Kia Sportage in Calgary. Kia's compact crossover SUV wins hearts at first sight with its bold styling and a stance that's surprisingly imposing for a small SUV. Inside, you'll find an upscale interior loaded with more features than you'd expect in the Sportage's price class. Read this 2019 Kia Sportage comparison to learn how it stacks up against the Toyota RAV4, one of its compact SUV competitors.
2019 Sportage - The Basics
The Sportage is a small SUV that's big on value. It offers a choice of two engines: a 2.4L four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower, or a turbocharged four-cylinder that cranks out 237 exhilarating horsepower and a hefty 260 lb.-ft. of torque. That power gets channelled either through the front wheels or through all four wheels with available Dynamax All-Wheel Drive (AWD). To fit your active lifestyle, the rear seats fold down to offer an impressive 1,703 litres of cargo space. The transmission features Drive Mode Select, so you can choose between Normal, Eco, and Sport modes for every possible driving situation.
How It Compares to the 2019 RAV4
Kia has always delivered tremendous value for the money, producing cars and SUVs with more features, performance, and safety technology than you would expect at their price point. The Sportage is no exception. It starts at only $25,295 for the base LX front-wheel drive model, compared to $27,990 for the base model front-wheel drive Toyota RAV4. For comparison purposes, however, we'll take one step up to the Sportage LX AWD model with the 2.4L non-turbo engine and the RAV4 LE AWD model (2018 specs were available at press time), to compare them as they typically might be purchased.
As you can see, these are similarly sized vehicles, while the Kia Sportage holds an edge in horsepower, torque, and price. The Sportage's advantages continue on the features list, where it matches or exceeds the RAV4 in a number of areas.
One area where the Kia Sportage pulls way ahead is the warranty. Kia stands by the reliability and durability of every Kia with one of the best warranties in the automotive industry:
Add in safety features including six standard six airbags, standard rear view camera, available Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and optional Autonomous Emergency Braking, and the Kia Sportage stands out even more as one of the best values in the Compact SUV class.
